See inside the builder’s new Wellington nightclub as the owner celebrates opening weekend success
More than 250 people walked through the doors of the Mature Club and Cocktail Bar after 9.30pm last Friday when owner Matt Minor officially opened, fulfilling his goal of launching his own venue.
Now the 36-year-old from Telford thinks his first nighttime success could prove the first of many and hopes his business plan will pay off with clubbers.
Matt said: “As a disc jockey I’ve played at my own events and also locally in Telford and other places like Wolverhampton.
“Music is my passion and seeing people smile and dance is what keeps me going.
“I always wanted to own my own club and this opportunity came along and it was something that was too good to turn down.
“I’ve been a disc jockey since I was 13 and it’s really been my dream and it was wonderful to have an absolutely brilliant first night.
“The cocktail bar was packed with friends and family and there were 300 people in the main room.
“We clicked 265 people after 9:30pm on Friday and were delighted with how things turned out considering we only had two weeks to turn things around.
“I hope that this dynamic will continue for the future. We only had very good feedback on the quality of the cocktails and the service.
“Telford really needed something like this for the over 25s. I hope I found the perfect business plan to attract customers.
“There is a cocktail bar for the over 25s which will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday and from 12 p.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday and there will be no entrance fee to this room.
“The other two rooms will be open to over 18s from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
“Entry to the cocktail bar for over 25s is free and there is a £5 entrance fee for the main room and back room for over 18s.
“I hope to introduce theme nights on Thursday nights at the Cocktail Bar with jazz, blues, reggae and other music bands.
“I took over the club just two weeks ago and have since managed to staff and store it and have it checked and installed alarms.
“It was a major exercise and also included some paint touch-ups, but I’m delighted with how things went and very happy with the staff who we only had two weeks to train.”
