Nightclub with exotic animals opens July 1 in Midtown Houston

Babylon, a new nightclub promising “exotic caged animals,” opens this weekend in Houston.
The 6,000 square foot club is located at 612 Hadley, the former site of Howl At the Moon. It opens on Friday, and weekend festivities will include a live zebra and camel. (Apologies to whoever does the cleaning.) It’s owned by Denver-based Jet Hospitality.
The club pointed out that “all exotic animals are professionally accompanied outside the club and are never inside”. They will be fenced with their own space and customers will not be able to pet them.
Babylon’s interior features an ancient Persian theme with gold embellishments. It will feature in-house DJs and celebrities. A schedule has not yet been announced. It will be open from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
In case you were wondering, the club has no connection with the iconic and imaginary club Babylon at the heart of the TV series “Queer as Folk”.
Denver-based JET Hospitality, whose nightlife, dining and hotel concepts are located in central Colorado, plans to expand into Houston and Texas.
(Update: The club is not associated with Seattle-based Jet Hospitality, which operates “alternative lodging properties” in the west.)
